Psychotherapy at Lore and Lobe

Hey there! I’m delighted you’re considering therapy.

I believe in an integrative approach because every person’s story and needs are unique. Sometimes you might simply need someone to empathise with your experiences. Other times, we can work together on practical steps that help you move forward. My goal is to ensure you feel truly understood, just as you are, within the context of your life. Together, we’ll shape each session around what matters most to you.

My core practice integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and counselling skills. ACT can help you make space for the inevitable pain that comes with being a human and guide you toward living in line with the values that matter most to you. CBT provides tools to recognise and gently challenge unhelpful thoughts, address habits that keep you stuck, and find practical steps to regain stability. At the heart of my work are counselling skills. These generalist skills set the tone of my practice, enabling me to listen deeply, notice what’s happening beneath the surface, and help you reflect on your experiences with compassion and perspective. In addition to these foundations, I also draw from a broader range of therapeutic modalities. These include Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), existential–humanistic, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, and Gestalt-based experiential techniques. Each approach is thoughtfully woven, based on your goals, your pace, and the ways you naturally make sense of your experiences.

If you’d like to know more about my background and credentials, check out the "About Me" section. Looking forward to working together!

Therapy FAQs

What sorts of challenges do you work with in therapy?

I work with clients who are facing all sorts of challenges, including navigating life transitions, such as career or relationship changes, or periods of feeling "stuck." I'm here to help you explore questions of meaning, identity, or purpose. I'm also equipped to manage worries, unhelpful thought patterns, and increase motivation. Additionally, I can help you live in accordance with your values and articulate what those values truly mean to you. I’m also here if you’re simply seeking a supportive environment to share your experiences. If you’re unsure if you’d be a good fit, please book a call and let’s find out.

What can i expect in our first session?

The first session is an introduction to our work together. You'll have the space to share your thoughts, what you hope to achieve from therapy, and any concerns you may have. I'll listen, ask some gentle questions, and together we'll get a sense of how our collaboration will work. There's no pressure to delve into deep issues right away.

What is your cancellation policy?

I have a strict 48-hour policy. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 48 hours' notice. This notice gives me time to offer the slot to someone else. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice, or missed sessions, will typically incur a full charge.

Can i switch between therapy and coaching?

Of course. We can discuss what feels right for you. It depends on my availability, as I offer different slots for each approach.

Can I work with you in therapy or coaching if I live outside of the UK?

Many people discover me from outside the UK through my workbooks or podcast. My professional practice, however, is rooted in the UK. I work as a therapist and coach in line with UK professional standards and ethics, and I store client data in full compliance with UK GDPR.

When you begin therapy or coaching, you will be asked to sign a contract that outlines the framework for our work together. This contract confirms that UK standards and law govern our sessions. By signing, you agree that your residence is recorded as being in the UK for this agreement, and that any legal matters will be handled through the courts of England and Wales. This clause is to ensure that, should indemnity insurance ever be required, both you and I are fully protected. My intention with therapy and coaching at Lore and Lobe is to market my services specifically to clients living in the UK. If you are based in the US, Canada, France, or Belgium, I am happy to provide you with details of therapists and coaches in your area.

What sorts of clients are a good fit?

I really enjoy working with people who appreciate a flexible and collaborative approach. I draw on counselling skills, CBT, and ACT. I primarily offer a non-directive, reflective space where you can talk and have someone provide new insights. If that sounds good to you, then we may be a good fit.

What can i expect in the free discovery call?

The free 15-minute discovery call is an opportunity for us to meet and see if we're a good fit. It's a casual chat, not a therapy session. You can ask me about my approach, briefly share what you're looking for, and get a sense of whether therapy with me feels right for you.

Do you offer online sessions only?

Yes, all of my therapy sessions are held online.

What languages do you offer sessions in?

English only.

Are there challenges you don’t work with?

There are some situations where I’m not the right fit, and where it’s essential to connect with specialist support instead:

Still unsure if you’d be a good fit? Please book a free chat with me and we'll find out !

How many therapy sessions will i need?

It really depends on what brings you to therapy. Some people come for just a handful of sessions to work through a specific difficulty. In contrast, others find it helpful to continue for a more extended period. We'll check in regularly about how it's going, and you'll always have the choice of how long we work together. I also offer single sessions for when you don’t want ongoing therapy but would benefit from focused time to think, talk, and reflect with a therapist.

How do i know if therapy is right for me?

Therapy is right for you if you want a safe and supportive space to talk through challenges, explore new perspectives, examine patterns, and make sense of what's happening in your life. It can be beneficial if you're struggling with mental health difficulties or emotional distress, or if you want to explore meaning, identity, or growth more deeply.

Do you take insurance?

No, all my sessions are paid directly.

What is a therapy contract and why do i need to sign one?

A therapy contract is a simple, written agreement that outlines how we will work together. All practitioners will have you sign one. It covers the practical and ethical framework of therapy ( like confidentiality, session times, fees, data protection, malpractice, and the standards I follow as a UK-trained practitioner). Signing it ensures we both have clarity, and it provides us both with the protection of English and Welsh professional law.

Where might another therapist be a better fit?

There are certain areas of practice I don’t offer, and where it’s better to work with a therapist trained specifically in those approaches:

  • While I do encourage body-based awareness in my work (for example, through ideas from polyvagal theory), I am not a trained somatic psychotherapist. If you are seeking dedicated somatic work, I recommend consulting with a practitioner trained in this modality.

  • While I sometimes draw on archetypes or use “parts” language inspired by Internal Family Systems (IFS), I am not formally trained in Jungian analysis or IFS therapy. If you are seeking in-depth work specifically in these areas, I recommend seeing someone qualified in these modalities.

Still unsure if you’d be a good fit? Please book a free chat with me and we'll find out!

Wellness Coaching at Lore and Lobe

I'm a wellness coach, and my goal is to create a collaborative partnership that clarifies your goals and helps you take meaningful action. I focus on supporting your overall wellbeing by helping you make practical, sustainable changes in your habits, balance, and resilience.

So what does that look like in practice? Wellness coaching is about taking a closer look at where you are now, spotting what's working (and what's not), and turning those insights into realistic next steps. We'll delve into your daily habits and choices, seeking patterns that either support or detract from your overall well-being. From there, we'll find practical, personalised tweaks you can naturally weave into your routine. These tweaks (designed with your unique circumstances in mind) will be goal-driven. These goals include improving your sleep, making more informed decisions, overcoming avoidance behaviours, or establishing effective digital habits. Furthermore, the tweak itself could reduce the time spent on hobbies during a significant life change, allowing you to enjoy them still while acknowledging that you don't have as much time as you used to.

Ultimately, my goal is to help you develop habits that align with your values and make your daily life more fulfilling—no overhaul required.

What can i expect in our first session?

The first coaching session is a starting point for practical change. You'll have the space to share your current situation, what you'd like to achieve, and what feels most important to you at this time. I'll listen, ask focused questions, and together we'll begin mapping out realistic steps you can take.

Of course. We can discuss what feels right for you. It depends on my availability, as I offer different slots for each approach.

What’s the difference between coaching and therapy?

Short answer: A big difference lies in the ethical obligation of coaches to direct clients to therapy if signs of a mental health condition emerge. In contrast, therapists are equipped to work directly with individuals who have those conditions. Coaching is designed for individuals who manage day-to-day life but want to improve habits, boost their wellbeing, or navigate change with more intention. Therapy is for those facing mental health challenges or emotional distress. Still, therapy can also involve exploring meaning, identity, and personal growth—which is where the line between therapy and coaching sometimes blurs. Generally, coaching is more structured and action-oriented, whereas therapy often takes a more exploratory and reflective approach.

TLDR; There’s no single way to draw the line, since therapy and coaching can sometimes overlap in scope. The most crucial distinction is that coaches must refer clients to therapy if mental health concerns arise. In contrast, therapists are qualified to work directly with those concerns. The boundary clarifies that an ethical coach isn’t a therapist and will not assume that role. Coaching is a good fit for individuals who manage everyday life but want to develop better habits, enhance their wellbeing, or navigate transitions with greater clarity and balance. A coach acts as an empowering partner—someone to help you “do life” in a way that feels more aligned and sustainable. Therapy, on the other hand, is for those experiencing mental health challenges or emotional distress—things like depression, anxiety, trauma, or anything that makes daily life hard to manage. Yet therapy, too, can go beyond symptoms: it might be about personal growth, self-understanding, and exploring meaning or identity. Different therapy approaches can blur these lines even further. Beyond this boundary, there are also differences in style. Therapy is often more exploratory and reflective, and can be a longer-term process. Coaching, by contrast, is always structured, practical, and focused on achieving immediate goals and taking specific actions.

What sorts of clients benefit from wellness coaching?

Great question, wellness coaching is for:

  • People who feel ‘stuck’ and are not experiencing a mental health condition such as depression, anxiety disorders, trauma, or other difficulties that require therapy or clinical support.

  • Those who are functioning day-to-day but notice patterns that keep holding them back

  • People who have a life full of things they enjoy, but struggle to pace themselves.

  • People navigating big life transitions

  • Those looking for practical, realistic tweaks—and who want support sticking with them

  • Reflective people who value growth through connection.

  • Busy people who are struggling to allocate responsibilities.

How many coaching sessions will i need?

It really depends on what you'd like to focus on. Some people come for just one or two sessions to address a specific challenge. In contrast, others find it beneficial to have ongoing coaching to stay accountable and maintain momentum. We'll check in regularly to see how it's going, and you'll always have the option to decide how long we continue. I also offer single sessions for when you don’t want ongoing coaching but would benefit from focused time to concentrate on a particular thing.

How do i know if coaching is right for me?

Coaching is right for you if you want to strengthen your wellbeing, build healthier habits, or navigate a life transition with greater clarity. It's less about exploring the past or going into a lot of depth, and more about identifying what matters to you now and creating practical, achievable steps to get there.

Do you take insurance?

No, all my sessions are paid directly.

What’s the difference in coaching and therapy at Lore and Lobe?

The difference lies in the scope, depth, and cost, but the choice is ultimately yours. Coaching is my way of offering a more affordable alternative for individuals who prefer a practical and focused approach. In coaching, we concentrate on immediate goals and simple adjustments that you can easily incorporate into your daily life. Many clients enjoy coaching because it provides a clear boundary on how deeply we'll delve into our sessions. Therapy with me can include the same focus on goals and strategies. Still, it always places them within a broader context that allows for reflection, depth, and exploration of meaning, identity, or the patterns beneath. Therapy is, of course, also where I work with people experiencing specific mental health difficulties, or with those who specifically want to draw on particular approaches like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), existential-humanistic therapy, counselling, or CBT.

Some people feel more comfortable working with a coach, while others prefer therapy. I am pleased to offer both options.
